Viewpoint from Crow Rock

The viewpoint from Crow Rock gives you access to a wonderful panoramic view over the Semois valley with the village of Chiny above.The crow has been at the heart of superstitions and beliefs for centuries. Stories heard to explain the link between this rock and the black winged creature tell of a natural perch where the crows sat before flying to the village’s cemeteries. Another explanation says that the name of Crow Rock does not have any link with the bird, whether by tradition or old legend. In old French the word for curved is similar to the word for crow. It is possible that another rocky slope, located in the spruce forests between the current spot and Saint-Nicolas bridge, would have been the real Crow Rock. As this site was covered in vegetation the name of the place may have moved.
