LAFORET, MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF WALLONIA
Laforêt is one of the rare places of the southern Ardennes to have
preserved the typical character of the old villages. With the help of
special town planning regulations it has been awarded with the Most
Beautiful Villages of Wallonia label.
Two typical drinking troughs guard each side of the village: large round
basins of brickwork ringed with iron.
The Legends Route, 2 km
Meet the legendary creatures of the Ardennes: the wild hunter, the white
lady, the verbouc, the devil, the gnomes, the werewolf, the witches and
the fairies. Start at the Atelier de Pinocchio, follow the bleu crosses.
The woven wood bridge
During summer (from June to September) crossing the Semois on the
remarkable Pont de Claies is a must. The panels of woven hazel branches
are fixed on thin pillars that rest directly on the river bed.
Do the 3 km walk. Start at the church, red rectangle waymarks.
Educational tour
Various panels offer information about the major features of Laforêt:
its architecture, the tobacco sheds, the woven wood bridge, the church ,
