
Historical guided tour of the castle
Originally built in the eighth century, the castle is among the oldest in Belgium. It was certainly already complete by 988 AD. Its most famous resident was Godfrey of Bouillon, leader of the First Crusade in 1096. It was used for military purposes until 1830.
Guided tours in English for groups are available on request. The historic guided visit is more in-depth guided tour than the usual tours, making it ideal for real fans of history who want to learn more about the fortress’s history. Maximum 35 people /guide.
Night visits can also be arranged by prior reservation throughout the year.
Combined tickets for the Castle, the Archeoscope and the Ducal Museum are available.
