La Hutte Lurette

In this rural Ardennes' inn, everything or almost all is home made. ! Savour a generous cuisine rich of good local produce.The local history says that during the 17th century the plague ravaged the whole Ardennes' region. Ruins of the abandoned village of Bergimont subsist close to the Paliseul railway station. In this exact spot, lived an old lady who brought help and food to poor people hit by the plague. She was named Lurette, In remembrance, the place has always been known as La Haute Lurette. On the site of an ancient farmhouse, a farm was built in 1960 and became the property of Edmond Gaussin's family. The building later served as a restaurant. Today, the "Hutte Lurette" has a hotel (7 rooms) and a fine restaurant, enlarged by a magnificent veranda and managed by Lisiane and Jean Lambert, born in Corbion. They had previously run the Marignan, in Bouillon. The restaurant can welcome some fifty guests and the banquet room is fitted to house 150 people. The building was bought in 1984.Lysiane is in the kitchen while he waits on the guests in the dining room. The business is a serious one and evolves very well with a mainly Dutch clientele during the weekends.Car park located across the road from the restaurant.
